1st Avenue Chicken in Junggye-dong, Seoul

1번지통닭(1st Street Chicken), which recently opened between Sathat Intersection in Junggye-dong and Wongwang Elementary School, seems to be breaking the strange tradition of that location.

However, this time, it appears that the chicken restaurant is trying to change that trend, and I was curious to see why. 😄

It used to primarily have seafood restaurants in the area, but with this chicken joint in Junggye-dong, the atmosphere and surroundings seem much brighter.

So, is a chicken restaurant the key to success in this spot from the beginning?

1번지통닭(1st Street Chicken) is located near Junggye Elementary School and Wongwang Elementary School, close to Sathat Park in Junggye-dong. The main branch is in Junggye-bondong, closer to Eunhaeng Intersection.

Here’s the main branch. The one in Junggye-dong, near Sathat Intersection, is another location.

🌈 Menu

It’s a bit far to see, but two chickens are priced like a single chicken at a regular chicken joint.

In any case, the cost-performance ratio was not bad. However, the chicken pieces were smaller in size.

🌈 1번지통닭(1st Street Chicken) Location

Naver Maps still shows the old 99 Haesan Seafood Cha location with the previous owners.

A nice, cold draft beer is tempting. I prefer Cass, but unfortunately, they didn’t have it. 😢

Basic sides provided: Cabbage salad, fried snacks, and chicken radish.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen cabbage salad like this. The style is to sprinkle ketchup liberally.

✔️ Tteokbokki in Broth

Our son insisted on ordering it. You have to listen to a tteokbokki enthusiast!

The tteokbokki had a slightly spicy kick to it.

The fried chicken had a hint of spiciness, and even though it felt like the quantity of chicken was more like one instead of two, it still came with four chicken legs. 😄

There was something inexplicably generous about it.

Even so, the three of us left some leftovers. It’s not even 20,000 won for two chickens.

The spot used to have meat and seafood restaurants, but now it’s trying to establish itself as a chicken joint in Junggye-dong.

[My Honest Review]

✔️ It used to be a place where various businesses frequently changed, transitioning from a seafood restaurant to a meat restaurant. However, with the recent opening of a chicken joint in Junggye-dong, it seems to have found its niche.

✔️ While the outdoor seating area (patio) might be a bit chilly in the winter, I believe it will become a popular hotspot during the summer.
