Jeju Island Dolphin Tour and Experience Spots

During my trip to Jeju Island, I visited some dolphin tour and experience spots that are definitely worth checking out. These locations are situated along coastal roads that have relatively little traffic, offering a peaceful and leisurely experience. Renting an electric bike is a great option here, as it allows you to explore the dolphin spots at a relaxed pace while enjoying the stunning coastal scenery.

Electric Bike Experience

I decided to rent an electric bike to explore the dolphin viewing spots and ride along the coastal road. This gave me a fun and eco-friendly way to take in the views. Of course, driving your own car is also a convenient option if that suits your preference.

Nearby Attractions

The dolphin tour spots are close to several other attractions, including Suwolbong Peak and Jagunae Port. These areas offer beautiful views and are worth a visit if you have the time. The bike route itself is scenic, and you may even come across some friendly stray cats while exploring the quieter areas.

Dolphin Tour Locations

  1. Yeongnak-ri Beach – This is one of the best dolphin-viewing locations. There’s a well-known CU convenience store, CU Seogwipo Yeongnak Coastal Road Store, nearby, which is famous for its dolphin-spotting views. You can buy some refreshments and head to the second floor for a comfortable viewing experience. The store offers convenient parking, and with a bit of luck, you might spot dolphins within 30 minutes of arriving.
  2. Ilgwa 2 Fishing Village – Another dolphin-viewing spot near the CU convenience store, Ilgwa 2 is a location where dolphins frequently pass by on their migration. This spot features benches where you can sit and enjoy the serene ocean views. It’s also popular with photographers who come to capture images of the passing dolphins.

Other Recommendations

While there are paid dolphin tours available across Jeju Island, exploring by land on an electric bike or car can be just as fun and more adventurous. You get to discover these peaceful spots while enjoying the freedom of exploring at your own pace.

Local Cafés and Scenic Stops

I stopped by a café during my trip and enjoyed a freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, which was exceptionally delicious! Along your route, you’ll also find Mippeun Bakery, a popular bakery café, offering another great stop to rest and enjoy some local treats.

Scenic Route Recommendation

For a memorable experience, I recommend starting your journey at Jagunae Port and ending at either Ilgwa 2 Fishing Village or Ilgwa 2 Breakwater. You can also do the route in reverse. This coastal road is relatively quiet, and there are plenty of resting areas with ocean views where you can take a break and soak in the scenery. It’s a peaceful stretch of road perfect for a leisurely day of dolphin watching.

Highlights of the Route

  • Few cars and quiet roads for a relaxed ride.
  • Rest stops with beautiful sea views.
  • “Mippeun Bakery” for a unique café experience along the way.
  • Chance encounters with wildlife, including friendly stray cats.

This area, especially around Gosanseong Fortress and Jagunae Port, offers some of the most stunning and peaceful coastal scenery in Jeju.
