“Millgot” in Yangju serves Kalguksu and Manduguk.

Yangju Kalguksu & Manduguk – Millgot

During our visit to Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, we discovered Millgot, a restaurant specializing in Kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) and Manduguk (dumpling soup). It is located right behind Jabang-go, a well-known grilled fish restaurant in the area. Initially, we hadn’t planned on coming here, but due to Jabang-go’s long wait time, we decided to give this place a try—and it turned out to be a fantastic find, far exceeding our expectations.

Spacious and Clean Environment

Upon arriving, we noticed that the parking lot was large and convenient, making it easy for customers to access the restaurant. The building’s exterior was well-maintained and had a clean, modern look, giving off a welcoming vibe.

Yangju is a relatively large city, and perhaps because of this, many restaurants in the area tend to have spacious interiors, allowing for a comfortable dining experience.

A Well-Organized and Customer-Friendly Interior

The interior was neatly arranged, with a clean and cozy atmosphere. A particularly nice touch was that steamed rice was provided free of charge, which added to the satisfaction of the meal.

Delicious Kimchi with a Bold Garlic Flavor

One of the standout side dishes was the kimchi, which had a noticeable garlic-forward taste. It closely resembled the kimchi served at Myeongdong Kalguksu, known for its deep and well-fermented flavor.

Rich and Flavorful Broth with Handcrafted Noodles

The broth at Millgot is made by slowly simmering ox bones and blending it with meat broth, creating a deep, rich, and savory taste. The handmade Kalguksu noodles were silky, soft, and smooth, making each bite incredibly enjoyable.

Freshly Made Dumplings with Generous Filling

Millgot takes pride in its handmade dumplings, which are crafted in-house using freshly prepared filling. The dumplings were plump and generously stuffed, complementing the thick, flavorful broth perfectly.

A Hidden Gem Worth Revisiting

Since Jabang-go was overcrowded, we ended up at Millgot as a backup plan, but it turned out to be a delightful surprise. The unexpectedly delicious flavors, soft textures, and easy digestibility made it a memorable meal. Without a doubt, I would gladly return for another visit.

The Kalguksu noodles were smooth and easy to eat, while the broth was both rich and clean, striking a perfect balance of depth and lightness.
