A recommended scenic accommodation in Sokcho Gangwon-do is Sunrise Hotel.

🌅 Sunrise Hotel Sokcho — A Scenic Getaway in the Heart of Gangwon-do

If you’re planning a trip to Sokcho, Gangwon-do, and looking for a hotel with beautiful views and a convenient location, let me introduce one of my go-to places: Sunrise Hotel. I’ve stayed here multiple times, and if I had to choose a single hotel to recommend in Sokcho, this would be it—hands down.

🛏️ Who Is It For?

Sunrise Hotel is ideal for:

  • Solo travelers
  • Couples looking for a cozy getaway
  • Business travelers on short stays

While the rooms are spacious and clean, they’re best suited for 1–2 people. Families of four or more might find it a bit tight.

🌊 What Kind of Views Can You Expect?

Sunrise Hotel offers several types of room views:

  • City View (Seoraksan direction)
  • Distant Ocean View
  • Cheongcho Lake + Side Ocean View (My personal favorite)

If you’re after a romantic or tranquil view, I highly recommend selecting a room with a Cheongcho Lake and side ocean view. From the balcony, you’ll see the shimmering lake below and the East Sea peeking through beside the iconic Seorak Bridge.

📍 Perfect Central Location

The hotel is located right in central Sokcho, which makes it incredibly convenient for exploring nearby attractions:

  • 5 min walk to Sokcho Tourist Fish Market (Jungang Market)
  • 5 min walk to Gaetbae Boat Dock and Abai Village
  • 10 min by bus or car to Dongmyeong Port
  • 15–30 min by car or bus to Daepo Port and Yeongnangho Lake

You won’t need to worry about transportation—almost everything worth seeing is close by.

🅿️ Parking Info

On weekends, the hotel’s parking lot may be full. Thankfully, they have a partnered off-site parking lot, and guests receive a free parking voucher upon check-in. Very convenient!

🛋️ Room Details

Every room I’ve stayed in had:

  • A comfortable bed
  • Either a sofa or a table and chairs
  • A microwave, two complimentary water bottles, cups, and instant coffee

Some rooms are set up differently depending on the host if booked through certain apps (like the one that starts with “A”), so layouts and styles may vary slightly.

🔸 Note: The TV is slightly small, but fits the room layout.
🔸 Basic tableware is provided, but cooking utensils are limited.

🚿 Bathroom Layout

The bathroom is straightforward:

  • Sink and toilet together
  • Shower booth located directly across from them

Clean, modern, and functional.

🍽️ Breakfast Info

I haven’t personally tried the breakfast, but here’s the info for those interested:

  • Price:
    8,800 KRW (ages 4–7)
    11,000 KRW (ages 8–13)
16,900 KRW (ages 14 and up)
  • Hours:
    7:30 AM – 10:30 AM

🏪 On-Site Convenience Store

On the ground floor, there’s a surprisingly large Emart24 convenience store. It’s well-stocked with drinks, snacks, and even a wide selection of alcoholic beverages.
Just note—it closes at midnight.

🌆 View from the 9th Floor — Even on a Rainy Day

On one of my recent visits, the weather was cloudy and rainy, yet the view from the 9th floor still had a calm, moody charm. I could see Cheongcho Lake stretching out below with Seorak Bridge glowing faintly in the distance, and the East Sea shining just beyond.

If you want the best possible view, aim for a room on the 9th floor or higher. I’ve also stayed on the 6th and 20th floors—higher is definitely better.

🌉 What Makes Cheongcho Lake Special?

Cheongcho Lake is what’s known as a “seokho”, a lagoon formed when rivers flowing to the sea get blocked by sandbars. Sokcho is famous for these coastal lakes, with Cheongcho Lake and Yeongnang Lake being the most iconic.

At night, the lights around the lake and the bridge sparkle beautifully, especially on clear days—great for photos or just quiet moments on the balcony.

📝 Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a hotel that combines beautiful natural scenery, great access to local attractions, and comfortable rooms for solo or couple travelers, Sunrise Hotel in Sokcho is hard to beat.

Whether you’re enjoying the peaceful sunrise over Cheongcho Lake, watching the bridge light up at night, or just relaxing with a convenience store snack after a day of sightseeing, this hotel has everything you need for a restful and memorable stay.

📌 Summary:

  • 🌄 Best View: Cheongcho Lake + Side Ocean
  • 👣 Walkable to markets and key sites
  • 🚘 Free parking nearby (weekends)
  • 🛏️ Ideal for 1–2 people
  • 🏪 On-site Emart24 convenience store
