🌿 A Relaxing Escape at Neutinamu Café in Paju’s Wolloong Area

If you’re craving a peaceful escape from the city, surrounded by wildflowers, wide-open rice fields, and a laid-back, almost camping-like atmosphere — then Neutinamu Café (느티나무카페) in Wolloong, Paju might just be your next favorite spot.

🛤️ A Hidden Gem by the Train Tracks

On my way to meet a friend in Paju — someone who always seems to have a list of picture-perfect cafés up their sleeve — I found myself eagerly wondering which charming spot we’d visit this time.

The destination? Neutinamu Café, nestled just beneath the wall lining Wolloong Station. Rather than a “shack by the train tracks,” as the saying goes, this was more like a fairytale café by the railway.

It’s easy to get there — just take Exit 1 of Wolloong Station, walk through the underpass, and within 3 minutes you’ll be there. For drivers, you can park behind the station (searchable on maps).

🌼 Outdoor Bliss: Nature, Flowers, and Field Views

What struck me most was the open-air setting. Even though large sunshades (tarps) are set up, the entire space is naturally shaded thanks to the surrounding trees. It felt like a perfect summer hideaway, even on a warm day.

Beautiful hydrangeas and seasonal flowers line the walkways, and in front of the café stretches a panoramic view of green rice paddies — the kind of view that instantly clears your mind.

Whether you’re seated at a table or laying on a picnic mat in the grass (free to borrow!), every seat comes with a view.

🪑 Indoor, Outdoor, and… Lawn Seating?

There’s a cozy indoor area, and a larger outdoor garden with wide open grass where you can lay down a picnic mat. It’s ideal for families, couples, or even solo bookworms — and yes, they provide free mats if you want to stretch out and relax.

There’s also a separate library space filled with books where you can sit in peace and enjoy the fresh air or read while sipping your drink.

🍧 Signature Menu: Injeolmi Bingsu & Ginger Bingsu

When it’s hot out, what beats a cold dessert?

Here, the injeolmi bingsu (rice cake shaved ice) is a best-seller, and I can see why. Soft, nutty, not too sweet — it’s the perfect summer treat. On the other hand, the ginger bingsu had a very bold ginger flavor, which wasn’t exactly to my taste, but ginger lovers would probably go crazy for it!

They also serve freshly baked cookies, made in-house and served warm — a nice pairing with coffee or tea.

🐱 A Lazy Resident Cat

One charming touch? A sleepy cat who roams the grounds, usually found napping in the shade. Despite its grumpy looks, it’s extremely gentle and peaceful — the perfect mascot for this laid-back café.
