Urbanest Hotel – A Family Staycation Near Starfield and IKEA in Goyang
With the kids’ final exams over and summer vacation just around the corner, we decided to treat them to a little staycation. Instead of heading to Suwon as we had originally planned, we made a last-minute change—thanks to our child insisting that the Starfield Traders food court pizza was a must. That’s how we ended up booking Urbanest Hotel, conveniently located near Starfield and IKEA in Goyang. I reserved the room easily through an app, which made the whole process quick and stress-free.

One great tip—Starfield has a Traders in the basement, and you can pack food to take back to the hotel. Originally, we thought of grabbing lunch at IKEA, but as always, the IKEA food court wasn’t really the best in terms of value for money.
Our Room: Premium Family Suite
We booked the Premium Family Suite, which usually costs around 360,000 KRW, but through the app I managed to get it for almost half the price. Honestly, what a great deal!
Walking into the suite, the first thing that caught my eye was the wide windows—both straight ahead and to the right—offering plenty of natural light and a beautiful view.
The room layout was perfect for a family stay:
- Main space: Living room combined with a bedroom, with a double bed.
- Separate bedroom: Another bed, also a king size.
- Both beds were large enough for two people each, so nobody felt cramped.
The living area also had a sofa, a coffee table, and additional chairs. If you move the chairs around, you can easily seat 4–5 people in the space.
Highlights of the Suite
- Terrace with a cypress wood bathtub: This was such a unique touch! The soft scent of the cypress wood and the open view made it perfect for a relaxing foot bath or a half-body soak.
- Mini fridge: Medium size, not too small. Stocked with three bottles of water.
- Coffee corner: Electric kettle, paper cups, and four instant coffee packs.
- Extras: A personal safe, two bathrobes, and a neatly arranged vanity area.
- Bathroom setup: The toilet, sink, and shower were all in separate sections, making it super practical for families.
The View from the 20th Floor
We were assigned a room on the 20th floor, and the view was one of the highlights of our stay. The wide windows in the living area opened up to an impressive cityscape. Watching the night lights from the comfort of the suite felt like an added bonus to the staycation.
