Even without a prominent sign, it’s surprising to see so many cars, confirming that this Paju meat restaurant is well-known and sought after, even in a secluded location, not in the bustling city.

Paju Munsan Warm Home Cooked Meal is somewhat off the beaten path, a fact I didn’t realize when I went with the client representative. Looking at the map later, it’s situated somewhat away from the busy areas.

Since there’s no big sign on the road, it’s crucial to pay attention to the address when finding your way there.

Warm Home Cooked Meal Menu

The main menu includes Iberico pork neck (from Spain), Spicy Pork Rib Stew (using domestic pork), and Fermented Kimchi Stew (with rice).

What is Iberico? It is a term used for pigs raised in the Iberian Peninsula, which includes Spain and Portugal. Although I’ve never been there, I recalled studying about the Iberian Peninsula during my geography classes. When I first encountered Iberico pork, it brought back memories of Spain. I guess I’m not that bad at geography after all!

The client representative recommended this place with great anticipation, and it lived up to the expectations. While not a perfect 100 out of 100, I would easily give it a solid 95.

The main dishes at Munsan meat restaurant Warm Home Cooked Meal are Iberico pork neck grill, and Spicy Pork Rib Stew. Today’s choice was, of course, the pork raised on acorns in Spain.

A beautifully colored Iberico pork neck was served. Although famous in Europe, I wondered if there would be enough quantity to export to Korea. However, it seems that this high-quality pork has gradually gained popularity in Korea over the past few years.

Among them, the Iberico pork used at Paju Munsan Warm Home Cooked Meal seemed to be of good grade, and the initial impression was positive. The good quality was evident just by looking at the color of the meat.

Juices were visibly flowing smoothly. According to the client representative, the Iberico pork neck at Paju Munsan meat restaurant is known for having clear oil. While I momentarily thought, “Isn’t all pork oil clear?” upon hearing this, it did seem to have an exceptionally clear oil compared to other pork.

A sizable piece was gradually cooking to a perfect size for eating. Despite the seemingly low heat of the grill, it managed to capture the juiciness of the meat and cook it to perfection, delivering a moist and tender texture.

Including the seasoning sauce, a total of 10 side dishes were prepared. The side dishes had a home-cooked feel, and each one felt neatly arranged.

Among the side dishes, the most delicious were the braised tofu and pickled perilla leaves. It’s getting harder to find tofu side dishes in restaurants nowadays, considering the high cost of tofu. The thick meat was slowly cooking, and despite expecting charcoal flavor, the method chosen at Warm Home Cooked Meal was accepted, considering it aimed to find the optimal taste for Iberico pork.

Korean-Style Fermented Soybean Paste Stew

Rich soybean paste stew

It would have been a big mistake not to order it! It was not too salty, and the combination of zucchini and tofu complemented the rich taste of soybean paste.

The first piece of meat must be dipped in salt sauce. This allows you to fully savor the juiciness and flavor of the meat.

Although I ordered neck, I chose a part with a layer of oil like pork belly. The unique toughness of the meat was minimal, and as the oil layer blended in, it smoothly chewed and entered the mouth.

Lettuce also came out, but it was best to wrap it in pickled perilla leaves. Even without adding ssamjang, the slightly bitter taste of the perilla leaf itself came out, making it feel like it would dissolve both protein and fat together. The slightly salty taste blended well, smoothly melting in the mouth.

Last order at 8:30 PM

Attention! Visiting on Mondays is in vain, as they are closed on Mondays.

They open at 11 AM, and there might be a crowd even on weekends.

No sign restaurant

But with word of mouth, it seems busy inside.

Next time, I’ll challenge the Spicy Pork Rib Stew. But can a spice novice handle it? Haha.

Fold/Unfold Located in Paju Munsan, it’s not an exaggeration to call it a hidden gem. (Reviewed with a friend’s Australian wallet)
