A Twosome Place Gaetbae Ferry Terminal branch a relaxing café in Sokcho.

☕ A Twosome Place by the Sea – A Quiet Escape at Sokcho’s Gaetbae Ferry Terminal

If you’re ever in Sokcho, one of Korea’s charming seaside cities, there’s one café I always find myself returning to—A Twosome Place Gaetbae Branch. Located right next to the famous Gaetbae Ferry Terminal, this branch isn’t just a place for coffee—it’s a calm, coastal retreat where you can take a deep breath, slow down, and enjoy the view.

📍 Easy to Reach, Hard to Leave

This café sits along Cheongcho Lake, just a 5-minute walk from Sokcho Central Market and within walking distance from many nearby hotels. If you haven’t settled on a place to stay, I recommend checking out Cheongchoho lakeside accommodations, such as Sunrise Hotel, which is nearby.

The café’s prime location makes it easy to stop by whether you’re exploring Sokcho’s harbor area or just craving a peaceful break with a sea breeze.

🌉 Views That Change with the Time of Day

What makes A Twosome Place Gaetbae Branch truly special is its uninterrupted view of the Gaetbae ferry dock, nearby harbor, and bridges like Seorak Bridge and Geumgang Bridge.

  • By day, you can watch the hand-pulled ferry cross the water, taking visitors to Abai Village—a historic area known for its food and filming locations.
  • By night, the scene transforms as bridge lights reflect on the water, creating a soft, dreamy atmosphere.

Whether it’s sunny, overcast, or even raining, there’s always something calming about this view.

🪑 The Space & Seating

This three-story café offers scenic views on every floor.

  • On the first floor, there’s a tucked-away corner seat near the ferry dock—perfect for small groups or those who love to people-watch.
  • The third floor is my favorite. The seating here faces the lake, and even the indoor tables have side views of the water.

The seating is comfortable, and the window-side high-back chairs offer a quiet, semi-private nook to enjoy your coffee and cake.

🍰 Coffee & Cakes (and Charging Ports!)

As with all A Twosome Place cafés, you’ll find a familiar menu of coffees, lattes, teas, and a variety of signature cakes and desserts. On this visit, I ordered an iced Americano and a slice of chocolate cake—a simple but perfect combo.

One thoughtful touch I appreciated: there are charging outlets at many of the tables, making it ideal for remote work or travelers needing to recharge their phones.

🌧️ Even on Rainy Days…

Even though it was raining during my visit, the Gaetbae ferry continued operating, carrying people across to Abai Village for just ₩500 one-way (₩1,000 round trip).

Once across, you can explore a small beach, snap some great photos, and enjoy a quiet pocket of Sokcho that’s rich in nostalgia.

🅿️ Parking Info

  • There is limited parking available in front of the café, but the spots fill up fast.
  • I recommend using the Sokcho Central Market public lot or nearby private parking lots if needed.

⚠️ A Few Notes

  • The stairs between floors are quite steep, so be cautious—especially if you’re carrying drinks.
  • While the café doesn’t offer a wide-open ocean view, the port-side view of the ferry dock and harbor is uniquely peaceful and full of charm.

💜 Why I Keep Coming Back

The biggest reason I keep returning to A Twosome Place Gaetbae Branch is the atmosphere. It’s not always crowded, often feels relaxed, and gives off a slow-travel vibe that’s perfect for soaking in Sokcho’s local charm.

Whether it’s your first visit to Sokcho or your fifth, this café offers a little moment of stillness with a view—and sometimes, that’s all you really need.
