A cafe that I always visit with my business acquaintance in Paju after a meal.
Today, we decided to go to a famous bakery cafe in Paju, a place we moved to upon the suggestion.

The original garlic Paju bakery.
Later, I realized that just by looking at the signboards or banners, it seems like there’s nothing this Paju bakery cafe can’t offer.
From sweet red bean buns to plain bread, garlic bread… haha.
Ryu Jae-eun Bakery is mainly concentrated in the vicinity of Paju.
The main branch is also in Paju, and there are about 4 to 5 branches nearby, but it doesn’t seem to have expanded into a nationwide chain yet.
I wonder if it exists elsewhere?
Come to think of it, I once saw it at Lotte Premium Outlet in Icheon.
✅ Address: 36-10 Bangujeong-ro, Munsan-eup, Paju-si
✅ Business Hours: 10 AM to 9 PM
(However, during the winter season, they seem to close 1-2 hours earlier)
It’s advisable to check by phone before visiting.
✅ Phone: 031-945-1388
Beautiful.
I heard people like this style of cafe.
A place that provides a brief respite from the tired daily routine.
Still, you can’t sit for more than 2 hours, though.
However, a serene sunset over the distant Imjin River unfolds before your eyes.
Fortunately, I came at the time when the evening glow was blooming.
These days, the days have gotten longer.
But the parking lot is quite spacious, and there are no cars.
It felt strange.
I don’t usually bring someone to such an unpopular place.
This person is not like that.
Similar to my style…
Little bulbs accompanied by cherry blossoms
Was this in late March?
It was still a time when cherry blossoms were not fully bloomed in Paju.
Baking studio experience is also available.
There were also many nice outdoor seats.
After late April or early May, it seems that outdoor seating in various themed spots at Paju bakeries will be more lively than indoors.
The evening glow is spreading.
Beautiful. It’s pretty.
Is this a place known for handmade sweet red bean buns and garlic bread?
Oh, since 1997.
In addition to natural fermentation, they make fresh sweet red bean filling in the store every day.
If you see it, you must get it!
(A pledge from a sweet red bean bun mania!)
Seats with various themes and shapes are scattered throughout the entrance.
As expected, there are not many people.
What’s going on?
It turns out that they close early during the winter season.
I came for a cup of tea, but I couldn’t drink it, so I sadly brought a few breads.
In addition to handmade sweet red bean buns, there are also cream-filled sweet red bean buns, herb and garlic bread, Paju parval bread, traditional rice castella, rice cream sol, and panettone, etc.
Huh? Appearance on SBS’s “Master of Living”?
But the more interesting thing is that it appeared in the “Master of Living” segment on the master of bread.
Advertisements and menu introductions for sweet red bean buns were coming out one after another, and suddenly, the master of bread appeared.
I couldn’t help but chuckle.
Is this Paju bakery cafe so talented? Various thoughts crossed my mind.
Various almond and coconut tarts
In my heart, I wanted to bring one of each type…
Paval bread?
Actually, it’s the first time I’ve heard of this bread.
Is it called Paval bread because it’s in Paju?
Or perhaps it’s derived from raising and grinding Pavalma (horse chestnut), a name based on places I know?
I think it might be the latter.
Sweet pumpkin castella, ganache muffins
There were also various pound cakes and muffins.
The main seats indoors surprisingly felt somewhat simple.
Stiff chairs and a slightly gothic atmosphere
Contrary to the Renaissance and Romanesque-style exterior felt from outside, the interior felt unexpectedly gothic.
Cream-filled sweet red bean bun
I decided to get this one for sure and clicked!
Wow~~ It’s 8 p.m., and they’re closed.
I think it was the end of March at that time…
In the summer, they seem to stay open a bit later.
Heungnam Manju, handmade sweet red bean bun
If it’s Heungnam, it’s a city near Hamhung in the Hamgyong region.
Is it derived from the name of that place?
Kas rice tella and various other drinks
An outdoor seat where you can have a cup of tea while watching the sunset
Personally, my favorite view and seat
Now that May has passed, can I have a cup of tea here?
I brought some back to the office of my business acquaintance.
Both the owner and I are bread enthusiasts, so even if I had a full dinner, I wanted to taste it again.
To be honest, one thing…
The cream-filled sweet red bean bun was incredibly soft and melted in the mouth, but the truth is, our local cream-filled sweet red bean bun, which is half the price…
The taste was quite similar.
Of course, they might differ in the quality of ingredients, but still.
Anyway, both Ryu Jae-eun Bakery in Paju and our local bakery have a common point that they are both delicious.
Fold/Unfold
Wondering what the famous Ryu Jae-eun Bakery is like in the Paju area? There were at least 4-5 directly managed branches nearby.
[My own review based on personal experience]
✔ During the winter season, the business hours are slightly shortened.
(It seems to be the case until the end of March. Phone confirmation is needed.)
✔ In the Paju area, Ryu Jae-eun Bakery Cafe seems to have at least 4-5 branches operating under the same name.
I saw about three locations on the map centered around the Provence village.
✔ If you’re hesitating about which Paju bakery to visit, it seems worth considering.
