Pet friendly destination in Naechon Pocheon.

A Hidden Gem in Pocheon for Tofu Lovers — Bokji Soft Tofu Restaurant

If you’re ever heading toward Idong or Ildong in Pocheon and looking for a hearty, authentic Korean meal that hits the spot — especially early in the morning — let me introduce you to Bokji Soft Tofu in Naechon, Pocheon.

I stopped by this place recently on my way out of town. It’s a spot I hadn’t visited in a long time, and while some things have changed, the comforting feel of the place hasn’t. The exterior and parking lot still look the same, giving it that nostalgic charm I remembered from my first visit.

A Breakfast Spot Worth Waking Up For

One of the best things about Bokji is that it opens early — 5AM on most days (6AM on Wednesdays) — so if you’re a morning person or just need a good breakfast before a road trip, this place has you covered. During the winter, they start a bit later (about 1–2 hours), so plan ahead if you’re visiting in the colder months.

Yes, It’s Pet Friendly! 🐶

If you’re traveling with your furry friend, you’ll be happy to know that Bokji is pet friendly, making it one of those rare gems where you can enjoy a meal with your dog. It’s a small touch that makes a big difference for pet owners. (I’m not one myself, but I can totally see why people love that about this place!)

What’s on the Menu?

The main dish here is, of course, sundubu (soft tofu stew) — warm, flavorful, and perfect for any time of day. If you’re not in the mood for tofu alone, don’t worry — they’ve got more.

  • Spicy Pork Set (Jeyuk Jeongsik): Great for those who want a little extra protein with their meal. The pork is stir-fried in a spicy, savory marinade that goes perfectly with rice.
  • Handmade Dumpling Soup (Son Manduguk): A classic Korean comfort dish. Think clear, hearty broth with plump, juicy dumplings. Nothing too fancy — just simple and satisfying.

They serve rice in a traditional hot stone pot, and after you scoop out the rice, you can pour hot water into the pot to make sungnyung, a lightly toasted rice tea that’s earthy and comforting.

Side Dishes That Shine ✨

Every table gets kongbiji (soybean pulp stew) as a complimentary side, which I personally loved — rich, nutty, and super homey. If you need extra banchan (side dishes), there’s a self-serve bar where you can help yourself.

There’s also fresh lettuce wraps available, so you can wrap your meat and side dishes ssam-style, Korean BBQ style — always a plus in my book!

Perfect for Families Too

I came with my kids, and even my son — who insists on having meat with every meal — was happy. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the atmosphere is relaxed and family friendly.
