✈️ Jeju Airport Rental Car Guide

Price Comparison & Honest Review for First-Time Travelers

If you’re planning a trip to Jeju Island, renting a car is almost a must. With wide-open roads, scenic drives, and remote destinations scattered across the island, public transportation just can’t keep up. That’s where Jeju Airport rental cars come in. But with so many companies to choose from, how do you know you’re getting a good deal?

Let me walk you through my personal experience—from comparing prices to actually driving the car—so you can rent with confidence on your next trip.

🧾 Why Price Comparison Matters

Jeju has a ton of rental car companies, and pricing can vary significantly depending on:

  • The type of vehicle (compact, SUV, luxury, etc.)
  • Fuel type (gasoline, diesel, LPG, electric)
  • Insurance coverage
  • Season and demand

I used Jeju The Rentcar, a price comparison site that made the process super easy. I could filter by vehicle type, fuel preference, driver’s age, driving experience, and even car features. What I liked most was being able to see real-time pricing from multiple companies in one place.

🚗 What I Rented

I usually go for electric cars when I’m in Jeju, but this time I chose a 2024 K5 LPG model. Why?

  • LPG fuel is cheaper—around 65% the cost of gasoline
  • It offered solid fuel efficiency (11–12 km/l)
  • The ride was smooth and spacious—perfect for Jeju’s scenic routes

Plus, LPG cars are considered eco-friendly, so public parking discounts often apply.

🛡️ Don’t Skip the Insurance!

When renting a car in Jeju, insurance options are crucial. Always look for:

  • Full coverage (a.k.a. “완전자차” in Korean)
  • Unlimited coverage for peace of mind
  • Single-party accident coverage, which covers accidents without a second vehicle involved

Many comparison sites let you choose your insurance level during booking. I went with the full package—it’s worth the extra few bucks for the peace of mind.

🏢 From Airport to Rental Car House

Once you land at Jeju International Airport, head out through Gate 5 on the first floor and cross the street to the Rental Car Shuttle Zone.

Shuttle buses from each company run every 15–30 minutes and will take you directly to their rental offices, usually about 10 minutes away from the airport.

Tip: Most rental companies keep their vehicles very clean, inside and out. Still, do a quick video check of the exterior before driving off, just in case there are any scratches or dings. Better safe than sorry!

⛽ Fuel Cost Breakdown (3 Nights, 4 Days)

  • LPG total cost: ~30,000 KRW
  • If it had been gasoline: ~50,000 KRW
  • If you plan to drive more than average (especially long distances), budget 1.5x more for fuel

Thanks to LPG’s affordability and the many charging/fuel stations across Jeju, you won’t have any trouble getting around economically.

📍 Hidden Benefits of Comparison Sites

One thing I really appreciated about using a rental comparison site was the extra perks:

  • Some rentals come with café or tourist site coupons
  • Easy access to detailed user reviews
  • Quick booking process (my reservation took under 5 minutes)

I could even choose between Korean and imported vehicles, pick the fuel type, and customize other options like color and navigation systems.

🌴 Bonus: Jeju Highlights I Hit With My Rental Car

  • Kimnyeong Beach: Crystal-clear water with an incredible gradient of blue
  • Darabi Oreum: A volcanic cone with 3 peaks and 6 craters—takes just an hour to hike round-trip
  • Eutteumi Rockfish Set Menu: My favorite Jeju dish, perfect after a day of driving
  • Jeju Black Pork BBQ: Enjoyed this grilled on our pension terrace with a highball in hand
  • Traditional Barley Bread & Omija Rice Cakes: Great souvenirs!

✅ Final Thoughts

Renting a car at Jeju Airport doesn’t have to be a headache. With the right tools and a bit of prep, it’s fast, affordable, and gives you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace.

If you’re heading to Jeju soon, I highly recommend:

  • Using a comparison site like Jeju The Rentcar
  • Opting for LPG or electric vehicles for better fuel efficiency
  • Always booking full insurance for peace of mind

Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, driving around Jeju in your own rental car is part of the adventure. 🚗💨
