A bakery café trend that has been popular for several years, not only in Seoul and its metropolitan area but also nationwide, seems to be spreading like wildfire.
Amidst this trend, some places are closing down while new ones are popping up again.
One such encounter was at Han Sangmin’s Bakery and Snack Shop in Gimpo Geomdan New Town’s commercial district.
The bread looked appetizing as ever, despite my attempts to resist indulging due to recent moderation.
I was voraciously eyeing the pastries.
From red bean buns, cream buns, chocolate balls to brownies… just hearing their names made my mouth water, but unfortunately, I settled for just an Americano.
These days, with the wellness trend on the rise, pastries like croissants and walnut bread seem to be gaining popularity over sweeter options, reflecting a health-conscious style.
As for the coffee at Han Sangmin’s, it wasn’t bad at all.
Interestingly, what seemed like disposable cups turned out to be branded with Han Sangmin’s Bakery and Snack Shop’s CI logo. It felt like a smart marketing move, which personally didn’t bother me.
Anyway, I wasn’t there to promote anything; I just enjoyed my food with my eyes.
It was a struggle to resist temptation…
As for the operating hours of Han Sangmin’s Bakery and Snack Shop, I’m not sure if it’s just at the Gimpo Geomdan New Town branch, but they seem to be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., with coffee orders accepted until around 10:30-40 p.m.
A friend got some bread packed up for me to take home, though I resisted the urge to eat them myself. I’ll have to share them at home.
I wanted to eat them, but I managed to resist. I’ve been having too many sweet things lately, and my blood sugar levels have been skyrocketing.
Overall, Han Sangmin’s Bakery and Snack Shop in Gimpo Geomdan New Town offered a wide variety of pastries, just as one would expect from a bakery café. The coffee was decent too. I might consider revisiting for another cup of coffee in the future.
