Every time I visit Samcheok, I never forget to stop by this Samcheok raw fish restaurant located in Jungnangjin Port.

Featuring a variety of seafood including squid and fish, the dishes here are not flashy but boast a unique flavor from the ice flakes and distinctive seasoning.

The restaurant consists of two floors, with the first floor being the kitchen area and all tables located on the second floor.

Located at 65-1 Saechunyeondo-ro, Samcheok-si, Gangwon Province, parking is available along the adjacent street next to the port.

Since there is no separate parking lot, visitors are advised to utilize nearby public parking lots or street parking.

The main menu consists of three items: raw fish soup, fish rice bowl, and spicy pollack stew, with the raw fish soup being highly recommended.

Customers can choose between squid or fish (such as flatfish or pollack), though squid may not always be available.

Operating hours are from 10 am to 3 pm, with the last order taken at 2:30 pm. Note that they do not serve dinner.

Weekends tend to be busy with waiting lines and numbered tickets being issued.

Personally, I usually stop by during business trips, though it feels like a stroke of luck to find a spot.

Prices may vary, particularly for squid raw fish soup and fish rice bowl.

From the restaurant, you can enjoy views of Jungnangjin Port and the Samcheok Earthquake and Tsunami Safety Tower. If time permits, taking a stroll to the safety tower after your meal is recommended.

Although I visited during lunchtime, the restaurant was still bustling with customers, and there were some unfinished dishes on the tables.

Interior of Samcheok Myth Raw Fish Restaurant.

Despite hoping for squid, I ended up ordering fish raw fish soup. It seemed somewhat mandatory rather than optional.

The side dishes were consistently delicious, and they generously served ample portions of shaved ice.

The seaweed salad retained the authentic taste of seaweed.

The spinach salad was refreshing.

The small fish mixture, presumably anchovies, was a delicacy.

The chili, coated with seasoning, had a subtly delicious taste that enhanced the texture of the chili without being overly spicy.

Gangwon-do style kimchi has its own unique flavor, typical of the Yeongdong region of Gangwon-do.

The thinly sliced raw fish had a good texture and didn’t feel skimpy in portion.

Complimentary rice was served, and mixing it into the remaining soup created a fish rice bowl style dish.

The highlight is adding ice flakes, swirling the fish sauce once more, and gently mixing it all together!

Is it a flatfish or a Korean flounder? Regardless, isn’t the Korean flounder the pinnacle of raw fish dishes?
