Simin Sikdang – The Ultimate Samgyeopsal Spot for Group Dining in Jongno 3-ga Seoul

Whenever I think of great samgyeopsal in Jongno, Simin Sikdang immediately comes to mind. I first visited years ago on a rainy day, and the memory of its delicious flavors stayed with me. Recently, on a scorching summer day, I couldn’t resist going back to satisfy that craving.

Despite the heat outside, the air-conditioned interior kept us perfectly comfortable while grilling the meat. Not once did it feel hot, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Why It’s Perfect for Groups

Simin Sikdang is ideal for groups of 2–4 or more, mainly because of their half-pan and full-pan samgyeopsal sets—a generous menu designed for sharing.

Beyond classic samgyeopsal, the restaurant also offers Wagyu beef options and combo sets that include both Wagyu and samgyeopsal, giving diners plenty of variety.

The owner of the restaurant is remarkable, always ensuring that guests enjoy their meals with top-notch flavor and warm hospitality.

While there are single-serving dishes available, if you want the true taste of Jongno samgyeopsal, sticking to the meat sets is highly recommended.

History and Atmosphere

With years of experience and frequent media appearances, Simin Sikdang has established a strong reputation. It’s popular not just for casual dining but also as a group dining and company party venue, thanks to spacious seating on the second floor.

The restaurant specializes in premium pork from Sunchon Pork, making each bite rich and flavorful. Another fun detail—the samgyeopsal slices are impressively long, measuring a whopping 29 centimeters, which adds a little extra excitement to the dining experience.

The Fresh Ingredients

The fresh greens selection is abundant, including angelica leaves, chicory, red mustard, and more. All these vegetables are available for unlimited refills, letting you enjoy your wraps without limits.

The high-temperature stone grills (around 270°C) cook the meat quickly, locking in juices while giving it a perfect sear. If the restaurant is busy, guests may need to grill their own meat, but if not, the staff will expertly grill it for you.

Highlights of the Meal

  • Samgyeopsal set: 450 grams of premium pork belly, accompanied by kimchi stew, aged kimchi, bean sprouts, and a variety of side ingredients that create a table overflowing with flavors.
  • Topping and garnishes: Beautifully presented edible flowers and the perfect combination of angelica and lettuce—one of my personal favorite wraps.
  • Cheese fried rice: Finished with oyster sauce sprinkled over kimchi for a subtle umami boost. The fried rice is easy to make at your table and rounds out the meal beautifully.

Pairing everything with slightly chilled soju enhances the flavors even more. With three people, we were more than satisfied, making it a perfect meal for small groups.
