Taereung Yeokjeon – The Go-To Jeon House Near Taereung Ipgu Station

If you’re looking for a cozy jeon (Korean savory pancake) bar near Taereung Ipgu Station, locals will point you straight to Taereung Yeokjeon. Just a 2-minute walk from Exit 6, this spot is always buzzing—whether it’s raining or not. In fact, on rainy evenings, the line can get quite long, as nothing pairs better with makgeolli (Korean rice wine) than a hot, crispy jeon.

📍 Address: 102 Lowpolis, 449-7 Hwarang-ro, Nowon-gu, Seoul
🕒 Hours: 4:00 PM – 1:00 AM (closes at midnight on Sundays, no regular holidays)

Atmosphere

I arrived in the early evening and was surprised to see the outdoor tables already filling up. The vibe is very much that of a local hangout spot, where regulars know exactly what to order and don’t mind waiting for a seat.

Inside, the place feels warm and casual, perfect for a group of friends sharing drinks and food. It’s not polished or fancy, but it’s exactly the kind of atmosphere you want at a jeon bar.

Signature Dish – Haemul Pajeon

The highlight here is, without a doubt, the seafood green onion pancake (haemul pajeon). What sets it apart is the generous layer of tiny shrimp spread across the batter, giving every bite a satisfying crunch and savory flavor. It’s crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfect for soaking up makgeolli.

I also tried the kimchi jeon and the yukjeon (pan-fried beef in egg batter), but the haemul pajeon was the winner. The balance of seafood, scallions, and the slightly chewy texture of the batter made it the dish I’d come back for again and again.

Other Favorites – Dubu Kimchi

We also ordered dubu kimchi (tofu with stir-fried kimchi). The tofu here came in large, hearty chunks, which paired well with the tangy, stir-fried kimchi. It was a great side dish with soju and made for a nice contrast to the heavier jeon.

Locals told me that most people mix and match here—trying different pancakes and pairing them with either soju or makgeolli. If you trust the regulars, you can’t go wrong with dubu kimchi as your second round.

Drinks – Baedari Makgeolli

When it comes to drinks, the house favorite is Baedari Makgeolli, a lightly sparkling rice wine with a smooth, slightly sweet taste. The combination of Baedari and haemul pajeon is a true classic—it’s no surprise that this pairing is what keeps the tables full almost every night.
