Sundae Guk is a representative traditional Korean dish, typically made using pig intestines and a mixture of pig or cow organs. This dish is a soup made with ‘sundae,’ a blood sausage made from the blood of pigs or cows mixed with flour.
Sundae is created by mixing pig or cow blood with flour and is usually stuffed into the small intestine or pig’s bladder, then boiled. Once prepared, sundae is thinly or thickly sliced and added to the soup, creating Sundae Guk.
The soup’s broth is typically flavorful and rich, based on a hearty meat stock, and is seasoned with various condiments. Various cuts of meat, such as head meat, intestines, and other organs, are often added to make the soup robust and delicious.
Sundae Guk is widely enjoyed across Korea, with each region having its own unique and distinctive variations. It stands as a popular and representative local dish among Koreans.
Near Suji, Yongin, there is a sundae (blood sausage) soup restaurant that you should visit at least once. This place serves hearty beef head meat and sundae soup. After a long time, I revisited the place.
Top Gol Sundae Guk, with a 25-year tradition, opens at 11:30 AM. There is usually a wait during both lunch and peak dinner times.
Located at 50m from Suji, Top Gol Sundae Guk is accessible on foot from the Sinsa Subway Station. However, parking may not be very convenient.
✅ Operating hours: 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM (There may be a slight difference from Naver and the actual signboard) ✅ Phone: 031-266-1357 ✅ Address: 42 Suji-ro 342beon-gil, Suji-gu, Yongin
Menu:
- Sundae Guk: 10,000 KRW
- Set Menu (including Sundae Guk and beef head meat): 12,000 KRW (Note: Set menu cannot be packed for takeout)
- Sagol Ugeoji Guk (for those who don’t like sundae): 8,000 KRW
- Osori Gamtu (recommended): 12,000 KRW
Self-refillable side dishes include kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), and onions. The meal starts with clearing out onions before the arrival of sundae guk and beef head meat.
The side dish kkakdugi, while slightly lacking in a perfect spicy-sweet-sour taste, is still enjoyable. It’s a momentary realization that perfection is hard to find anywhere.
When ordering the set for two, they mix the beef head meat and internal organs, serving a generous portion. Despite a slight reduction in quantity compared to before, the price of 12,000 KRW per person, including sundae guk, is considered reasonable.
Various parts of beef head meat are served, not 100% head meat but a mix with internal organs. While it would be preferable to have an equal mix, individual preferences may not always be accommodated.
The generous amount of meat, including sundae guk and internal organs, is impressive. It’s hard to imagine finding another place in Suji, Yongin, that matches the quality of their sundae guk.
Adding doenjang (soybean paste) and daedae (seasoned green onions) to taste, the broth complements the meat broth well. The large portion seems never-ending, leaving one wondering if they are a slow eater or if it’s due to the absence of soju on this day.
The restaurant is constantly busy, especially with orders for set menus or beef head meat separately. The performance-style preparation of these orders repeats without much pause.
Fold/Unfold A sundae guk restaurant located in Suji, Yongin. It has gained fame for its cost-effectiveness, often leading to waiting times during dinner and lunch hours. Keep this in mind if you plan to visit.
[My Honest Review]

✔ Parking can be a bit challenging. It’s convenient to use the roadside parking lot or the Suji-gu Office parking lot.
✔ Coming here frequently might make it somewhat ordinary, but it’s a reliable place to fill your stomach when you occasionally crave it.
✔ Whether it’s lunchtime or dinnertime, be aware that there is often a wait during peak hours. (However, the seating is relatively spacious, so the wait doesn’t seem too long.)
