Personally, I enjoy both meat and seafood, but among them, seafood is what I tend to prefer more. And within seafood, grilled fish is something I particularly love.
In the past, I used to frequent places that offered unlimited grilled fish, enjoying it to the fullest. However, due to the rising cost of living, such places have become harder to find, and even when I do find them, the quality often falls short of expectations. So now, instead of seeking unlimited grilled fish, I’ve shifted my focus to finding places that grill fish exceptionally well.
Although it was a bit of a drive from Seoul, it felt like a leisurely outing, and before I knew it, I had arrived.
The building itself felt more like an office building than a restaurant, but it seemed like I had found a good spot when I searched for a grilled fish restaurant in Yangju.
✅ Operating Hours: 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM
It seemed they didn’t have specific days off. Since there’s a salad bar and the grilled fish itself takes some time to prepare, it’s best to arrive by 9:00 PM.
The parking was convenient at “Mediterranean Grilled Fish,” located on 90 Mansam Road, Yangju, Gyeonggi-do.
Being situated in a quieter area on the outskirts, it felt a bit more relaxed.
✅ Menu: For ages 8 and above, it’s one order per person (due to the salad bar). They marinate the fish with sea salt themselves and grill it at 500 degrees Celsius in a brick oven.
✅ Price: Grilled options include mackerel, yellow corvina, hairtail, flathead grey mullet, and porgy, while stewed options include codfish, hairtail, and mackerel. Apart from rice, there are no other side dishes, but as mentioned earlier, there’s a salad bar where you can fill up before the grilled fish arrives. Surprisingly, they also had soy-marinated crab, which was unexpected but added a nice touch.
The soy-marinated crab had a slightly salty taste, but it would have been perfect with a little less saltiness. I wonder if they’d get too many orders if it were less salty… Haha. The unexpected appearance of soy-marinated crab earned extra points for the grilled fish restaurant in Yangju.
There were various dishes at the salad bar, although I couldn’t capture them all in the photos.
Buckwheat noodles seemed to be quite popular, but there were only a few left, which was a bit disappointing.
However, when I mentioned this, they promptly refilled it, and they even kindly let us know when it was replenished if we hadn’t noticed, so the service was really good.
Traditional sikhye (sweet rice drink) was served next to the buckwheat noodles, and it was one of the best picks for dessert after Mediterranean grilled fish, especially on hot days like these.
The refreshing water kimchi and radish kimchi paired well with the grilled fish, providing a refreshing touch to the meal.
As expected of a Yangju grilled fish restaurant, the braised hairtail was flavorful, although I found the size of the hairtail somewhat thin.
There was one whole mackerel, while the hairtail came in a large size, enough for half a fish.
Since they grill it in a brick oven, there was hardly any fishy smell, and the flesh itself didn’t fall apart easily but remained firm and tender, offering a delightful texture in the mouth.
The nutty scorched rice soup served in a hot pot, where you pour warm water separately and enjoy the crispy rice at the end, was another highlight.
At lunchtime, the restaurant was bustling with customers, but by around 3 PM, many had left, so it became somewhat quieter.
Despite being a grilled fish restaurant, it didn’t have the typical fishy smell, suggesting thorough cleanliness and management.
While grilled fish alone might seem a bit pricey, considering the self-service buffet style with soy-marinated crab and buckwheat noodles, the price doesn’t seem too high.
Located in a corner of Yangju, the grilled fish restaurant also operates a salad bar, where you can enjoy grilled fish along with soy-marinated crab and buckwheat noodles.
✔ The presence of a salad bar is appealing.
(With soy-marinated crab and buckwheat noodles, there are around ten buffet-style dishes.)
✔ The parking lots in front and back of the building are quite spacious.
✔ Above all, the owner and the staff were very friendly, making it a pleasant experience.
Grilled mackerel and hairtail were cooked to perfection without any fishy smell, seemingly roasted deliciously in the brick oven.
