Yangseonji Haejangguk, a menu from Cheorwon, South Korea

“After contemplating, I found Cheorwon Yangpyeong Haejangguk. I remembered the taste from when I had it in Ilsan, so I decided to look for it near Incheon Bupyeong.

The place has a decent parking facility.

🌈 Menu:

  • Kongnamul Haejangguk 8,000
  • Yangseonji Yangpyeong Haejangguk 10,000
  • Sunbuk Haejangguk 9,000 (Sunji, dried pollack)
  • Beef Haejangguk, Intestine Soup, Intestine and Sheep Soup
  • Other dishes include Suyuk (boiled pork slices) and Jeongol (hotpot).

There were some menu items that had a bit of distinctiveness compared to other Cheorwon Yangpyeong Haejangguk places.

The Suyuk includes beef intestines and Sunji, while the Jeongol contains beef intestines, sheep, and Sunji.

Kimchi and kkakdugi (radish kimchi) are available on the table, and you can help yourself to them as they are refillable.

Chili and daetaegi (a type of Korean seasoning) are provided separately, allowing you to adjust the spiciness yourself.

In the Cheorwon Yangpyeong Haejangguk in Ilsan where I visited before, you could get extra Sunji for free, but I’m not sure if it’s possible here.

There was a good amount of beef and Sunji in the dishes.

However, the broth was slightly lacking. It felt like it was missing that 2% of spiciness or rich flavor. Could it be because I’m so accustomed to the rich broth of Yangpyeong Haejangguk? Have I become accustomed to the taste of Yangpyeong-style or Jangjiri Yangseonji Haejangguk?

Nevertheless, the turnover rate seems good, so the freshness of the Sunji and lamb was good. In fact, in some places, even if Sunji is secondary, the lamb is so tough that it’s almost impossible to eat, no matter how much you chew.

Kkakdugi hotspot: Dipping Sunji and lamb in the soy wasabi sauce that comes with it makes it even better.

In Cheorwon Yangpyeong Haejangguk in Incheon Bupyeong, they don’t provide the sauce by default, so you have to request it separately.

The spicy and refreshing broth with kongnamul (soybean sprouts) and green onions helped soothe the stomach after a heavy drinking session the night before.

They are closed from 8 pm on the day before a holiday, on the holiday itself, and then resume regular hours from the day after the holiday.

However, considering that Cheorwon Yangpyeong Haejangguk menus vary slightly by region, it doesn’t seem to be a well-established chain.

There was someone managing the parking lot separately, so it wasn’t too difficult to find parking.

“My Honest Review of ‘My Money, My Food’

🌈 Yangseonji Haejangguk, no matter how many times you try it, the taste can vary significantly depending on the place and its reputation.

🌈 In addition to Cheorwon Yangpyeong Haejangguk, there are other places like Jangjiri Haejangguk, Sinnae Haejangguk, and Bangil Haejangguk.

🌈 If you’re a Haejangguk enthusiast, it might be a good idea to visit the places mentioned above at least once.
